Embedded software leader to showcase single chip MPEG-4 audio video (A/V) CODEC and a next-generation digital jukebox
SAN JOSÉ, Calif.—March 16, 2004—At the Embedded Systems Conference 2004, LynuxWorks™ will announce a new suite of embedded tools supporting open-source and Windows® development environments.
LynuxWorks' new suite of tools expands upon their existing products with an industry-standard set of extensions that enables the construction of systems that exhibit real-time behavior and allows developers to have complete control over their embedded and real-time applications. LynuxWorks will also debut a Linux®- and Solaris™-based development environment powered by the Eclipse platform. LynuxWorks' tools are open-standards based so that they work with the full product line—from Linux to LynxOS®.
Supporting their new development tools announcements, LynuxWorks will reveal their latest customer utilizing LynuxWorks' BlueCat® Linux technology. LynuxWorks' BlueCat is powering a new integrated Point-of-Sales (POS) solution for the highly competitive petroleum/convenience store market.
LynuxWorks will use the largest systems design event in North America as a backdrop to showcase all of their embedded operating systems and tools. LynuxWorks will demonstrate the Protocom PR818 MPEG-4 audio video (A/V) CODEC solution that compresses and decompresses video data in both NTSC and PAL formats providing the highest quality video at the lowest bit rates and power consumption available in market. The company will also demonstrate a next-generation digital jukebox intended for anytime, anywhere digital media entertainment. BlueCat Linux provides a highly flexible, low-cost open-source platform for consumer electronics developers building next-generation devices and applications.
